Why Invest in Whole-Home Rewiring?

Rewiring a property isn’t just about replacing old wires. It’s about improving safety, meeting modern electrical demands, and increasing property value. Here’s why many homeowners choose to invest in new electrical wiring:

Signs of Electrical Issues

Outdated wiring can overheat, trigger electrical shocks, or even cause fires. New wiring helps protect your home from preventable hazards. If you notice any of the following electrical issues, it might be time to upgrade your wiring system:

  • Frequent circuit breaker trips
  • Flickering lights
  • Burning smells near outlets or your electrical panel
  • Buzzing sounds from outlets, light fixtures, or your panel
  • Warm spots behind walls
  • Outlets, switches, light fixtures, or breakers that feel warm to the touch
  • Outdated electrical wiring, like aluminum or knob-and-tube wiring

Today’s homes require more power than ever for electronics, appliances, and HVAC systems. Rewiring ensures your home can handle increased demand without tripping breakers or risking electrical hazards.

New electrical wiring can operate more efficiently, reducing wasted energy and potentially lowering your electric bill. This can make your home's electrical system safer and more reliable.

If you’re remodeling or adding new rooms to your home, rewiring is often necessary to accommodate extra outlets, lighting, and appliances.

An electrician for home rewiring will make sure your home meets current safety standards, which is especially important if you plan to sell your home. Electrical Connections LLC has the training, tools, and skills to handle projects of any size while delivering exceptional workmanship.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Whole-Home Rewiring

How long does it take to rewire an entire home?

The timeline depends on your home’s size, age, and accessibility of wiring. Most projects take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. Our team will provide a detailed schedule so you know what to expect.

Do I need to move out during a home rewiring project?

Only if you need extensive electrical work that requires cutting into walls or ceilings in multiple rooms. We’ll discuss the scope of work and help you plan accordingly to minimize disruption.

Is whole-home rewiring expensive?

Costs vary depending on the size of your home and the complexity of the installation. While home rewiring is an investment, it adds value, improves safety, and can help prevent expensive electrical issues in the future.

Can I rewire my home myself?

No. Rewiring is complex, dangerous work that must meet strict electrical codes. Attempting DIY rewiring can lead to serious injury, property damage, or even fire. Always hire a licensed electrician for home rewiring to ensure the work is done correctly and safely.

Will whole-home rewiring damage my walls?

Some wall cutting is necessary to replace old wiring. Our electricians take care to minimize damage and will discuss repair options so your home is restored after the project.

Does new wiring make my home more energy efficient?

Yes. New wiring can improve efficiency by reducing electrical resistance and delivering consistent power to your devices and appliances. This can help save money on energy costs over time.

What is involved in the rewiring process?

The rewiring process typically starts with a full electrical inspection to assess your current system. Next, our electricians create a plan that meets your home’s power needs and local code requirements.

We’ll replace old wiring, upgrade outlets and switches, and upgrade your electrical panel if needed. Once the wiring is complete, we test the system to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Electrical Connection’s service was great. Josh, the technician who worked on our project, went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the results and offered solid alternatives along the way. He was detail‑oriented and did a great job covering the holes in the drywall. As with any job like this, we’ll still need to finish and paint, but he patched everything up really well. This was a major project that included replacing a breaker panel and a few other smaller improvements. I’d definitely call them again when the time comes.

Super easy to schedule and work with. We got recessed lights put into two rooms, and our electrician James was informative and helpful, being detailed and upfront throughout the job. He continued to be helpful through any questions we had. Definitely recommend!

Highly recommend Electrical Connections and Josh T specifically. We had an issue with our gas water heater, and EC / Josh were a huge help in the midst of a chaotic couple of days trying to make decisions on repair/replace, and gas vs heat pump water heaters. EC was easy to get in touch with, got me connected quickly and scheduled with Josh, who arrived on time, did a thorough inspection, and gave me a no pressure set of options to consider. He was incredibly responsive as we worked through final plumbing quotes and was able to adjust his schedule with the dispatcher to do the electrical work the same day so we could get our water heater replaced ASAP. Josh went above and beyond and was professional and a pleasure to work with throughout the process. I can’t thank Josh and EC enough for helping make this experience less stressful for our family.

Franklin was wonderful. He was so thorough and clearly walked us through the work and the issues he uncovered (including some possible fire hazards that we are SO thankful he resolved). He was also just very friendly and nice to have around! Whenever we need an electrician again, we will be happy to have him back.

Kisan Jones is an excellent electrician. This is the second time I've interacted with him. He told me what he was going to do, he did what he said and explained it to me thoroughly before and after. Both times he was in teaching mode with an apprentice by his side. I hope it was a good experience for them because I learned a lot myself. Not only that, he saved me thousands of dollars as the "other" company was only trying to upsell me. He's respectful, personable and knows his business. The other staff was responsive, caring and alert to my concerns. I highly recommend this company.

Peter Aurgaur and Jeremiah Castillo did a great job today replacing/upgrading my breaker panel. They worked very well together to efficiently perform all aspects of the job. I look forward to getting a successful inspection and then closing outage work when Pepco arrives to work with Peter to up date my meter and housing.
